Terms and privacy
Terms of use
The games are free and provided as they are. There are no accounts, no payments and nothing to sign up for. By playing, you accept the terms below.
What is ours
The code, the graphics, the texts and the curated datasets belong to Emil Grönstedt Söderberg, sole trader, and are protected by copyright and by the database right (section 49 of the Swedish Copyright Act).
The idea of the game is not. A daily guessing game with colour-coded clues is a genre, not a property. Copyright protects the concrete expression, never the idea, the rules or the function. Feel free to build a game of the same kind. Do not copy our code, our graphics, our texts or our datasets.
Borrowed data
Parts of the data come from others under free licences, and those licences continue to apply to that data. Every game names its own sources and their licences at the bottom of its page, and the player portraits are credited picture by picture, with photographer, licence and a link to the original file, on image sources.
The Countries data is distributed under ODbL 1.0. It is built by joining mledoze/countries with the World Bank's population figures, which makes it a derivative database in the sense of the ODbL. The licence therefore comes with it: the dataset the game downloads to your browser is under the same licence it was built from, and you may reuse it on those terms.
The portraits in Allsvenskan come from two places. The free pictures are Commons files under a free licence. The others are Svensk Elitfotboll's own player portraits, which are shown straight from allsvenskan.se and never copied here. We make no copies of them and claim no right to them. The pictures were taken by Bildbyrån, and the copyright is Svensk Elitfotboll's. Svensk Elitfotboll has agreed to the embedding, and that is the whole of the permission: to show the pictures from their server. If they want the pictures not to be shown here, we stop showing them; see the contact details below.
The Djurgården game is built on Swedish Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0): which players belonged to the squad, in which years, and how many league matches they played. The portraits come from two places, just as in Allsvenskan. If there is a free Commons file, it is used. If there is none, and the player is in an Allsvenskan squad today, Svensk Elitfotboll's own portrait is shown instead, straight from allsvenskan.se. Such pictures are never copied here and are credited separately on Image sources.
Liability
The facts in the games come from open sources and may be wrong or out of date. The games are entertainment, not an encyclopaedia. We are not responsible for decisions made on facts from here, and we give no guarantee of availability. The site may be down or be closed.
Do you see a mistake, or are you a photographer who wants your picture removed? Email kontakt@sportsly.se, and we will correct it or remove it.
Privacy policy
The data controller is Emil Grönstedt Söderberg, sole trader, kontakt@sportsly.se. The policy applies to every game that links here.
You who play
You do not need an account. Your round, streak, statistics and settings are saved only in your browser, and we cannot see them.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies. Cloudflare sees your IP address, and we see only totals. The basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how many people play.
The site runs at Vercel, which processes your IP address to show the page and protect it from abuse, and keeps it no longer than that requires. If you email us, the email goes via Cloudflare to our inbox at Google, and we keep it as long as the matter requires. The basis is our legitimate interest in running the site and answering you. Vercel, Cloudflare and Google are in the USA and are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Cookies and analytics
If you say yes to analytics, we save a random ID and a key in two cookies, which last at most 180 days, and measure how the games are used: which game, number of guesses, result, playing time and whether you come back. We do not save which players you guess. The purpose is to make the games better, and the basis is your consent.
The data is stored at Cloudflare. Each game event is deleted when it is 180 days old, and your ID with what links your visits once no events remain and the key has expired. The clean-up runs once a day, so everything is gone at most 181 days after your last visit. Visits to sportsly.se and sportsly.io are linked only if you have said yes on both.
You can change your mind at any time under Manage cookies at the bottom of the page. If you say no, we remove the analytics cookies at once and delete your game events; if the deletion fails, we try again on every visit until it has gone through. The processing before you changed your mind was lawful, since it rested on your consent.
Pictures loaded from others
Svensk Elitfotboll's player portraits are fetched from allsvenskan.se. Svensk Elitfotboll then sees your IP address, and their server may set the cookie __cf_bm, Cloudflare's bot protection. We and Svensk Elitfotboll are jointly responsible for the fetching itself: we for the page requesting the picture, they for what then happens on their server under their privacy policy. You can exercise your rights against us or against them.
About the players in the games
The games show the name, year of birth, height, nationality, position, club career and often a portrait of real footballers. To build the games we also use further facts about their careers and ID numbers that link the sources together. The facts come from open sources: Wikipedia, Wikidata and other Wikimedia services, transfermarkt-datasets, Reep, OpenFootball, Fantasy Allsvenskan and allsvenskan.se. We use them on the basis of legitimate interest, since they concern a public sporting career and are already published. They are shown to everyone who plays and are stored at Vercel and GitHub in the USA, which are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. A player who leaves a game disappears from it but stays in the player database and in the code's history, so that every player keeps their ID and earlier days' answers hold. That lasts as long as the games exist, unless you ask us to remove you.
You have the right to object. If you are in the games and do not want to be, we remove you. Email kontakt@sportsly.se.
Your rights
You have the right to know what information we hold about you, to have mistakes corrected and to ask for it to be erased or its use restricted. What you have provided with your consent you can receive in a format you can move to someone else. You also have the right to object to our using it. Email kontakt@sportsly.se. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten.
